I have disolved 2,4-D powder with absolute ethanol. Then 2,4-D powder is turned into clearly solution. I adjusted the volumn by distilled water. So, the powder isn't dissovled again. What's wrong with my preparation? I saw someone said heat gently if required.
In our lab we add some drops of DMSO and put the beaker on a hot hotplate , it dissolves immediately. Be careful of the fumes. Then immediately add HOT bidest and stir. and later fill up to the supposed volume.
adjust the volume slowly slowly. Heating is not always required but sometimes gentle heating is also required.

We prepare dilution stock of 2,4-D solution by two methods:
1- Dissolve 100 mg of 2,4-D powder (high purity) in 5 ml. ethanol (95%) on stirrer and then add d.water to complete the volume (200 ml.) without heating.
2- Dissolve 100 mg of 2,4-D powder (high purity) in 100 ml. ethanol (95%) and store it in freezer.( take care from ethanol evaporation )
