Cloud computing is based on virtualization, which means that the traditional architecture would be no longer applicable if everything goes to the cloud? Cloud architecture models IT as a service provided by third party. Maybe we are going to see different IT service.
In general, there are two possibilities:
(1) Even more decentralization, more flexible architectures.
(2) More centralization again - a new idea will make single machines more powerfull and/or - on the other hand - security and privacy problems will make people more reluctant to putting their data to clouds.
Which of the two will happen? Both, probably, I just have no idea in what order.
And, always remember - we might hate this fact, but it depends on the marketing to the high extend...
Redesign of Hardware resources to meet the demand of Next generation of cloud
I think the use of Cloud Computing and another technology together, such bigdata, would be the next step.
Many applications and devices are using features of Cloud Computing, and many programming models are being developed.
I was at an IT Conference the other day. NetApp has around 13% business and growing from Hyperscale. The model consists of:
- Private Clouds
- Outsourced Clouds that perform a particular service
- Hyperscale Clouds
So all in all. Its Big Data and Parallel Multi-Core/ computing all the way. The gains made in the future will be in transistor, optical transceiver, and storage technologies. Other gains can always be made with optimized software computing algorithms as well.
Google, IBM, Microsoft and most others are also investing in Machine Learning, AI, and Speech processing so one can only imagine what we can do given the scale of data, computing, and these other technologies.
I think the way and speed data delivered would impact cloud computing in terms of speed and capacity and storage.
