We have developed and written some codes to produce maps of dip directions and inclinations starting from the interpretation of aerial photo images and the mapping of the bedding traces (intersections between the strata and the terrain). There is not automatic tools for determining lithologic contacts.

I would recommend use R, the most powerful open-source statistical language, for Geostatistical modeling of Facies and petrophysical properties.

R has mainly three packages for all the geospatial algorithms with regards to estimation and simulation. The packages are: geoR, geoRglm, and gstat, as shown in the following links.

You may also use Bayesian Kriging for spatial simulation of petrophysical properties. You could simulate you properties, generate many realization, and ranking them.

Bayesian Kriging can be easily done by geoR package.
