Does the bleaching agent affect composite resins according to their monomer contents? Which monomers are affected more during bleaching? Bis-GMA, TEGDMA, UDMA or Bis-EMA?
I did a study on bleaching of composites last year and while my literature survey, I came across a study on elution of monomers from the bleached composite resin samples. It said that there was no effect on Bis-GMA or TEGDMA released. I have added the link here.
Most of the studies are on tensile strength/bond strength in general. There is no significant reduction in tensile strength of composite, as a whole, after bleaching. More studies have been done on peroxide bleaching and shear bond strength of composite to bleached vs etched enamel. And they have found that the bond strength decreases on bleached enamel, which in some studies though, was said to be clinically acceptable.
Your question seems very interesting and I believe that it can make a good study, if there is not much literature already on it. If you know of something, please share.
