Some semiconductors,such as GaAs or ZnS exhibit negative thermal quenching of Photoluminescence phenomenon which is very rare compared to traditional semoconductors which show positive thermal quenching behavior.
Is there any practical significance of this effect in technology?

High internal quantum efficiency of the green luminescence can be sustained up to few hundred K due to negative thermal quenching. In contrast to the poor stability of defects related visible emission, the structured green luminescence shows good stability with respect to sample heating.

Hypothesis: Type of GaAs ( from p to n ) may be an important factor because the Fermi level position may change with temperature and, accordingly, the level of ionization of the main non-radiative centre (EL2) can change, which could strongly impact the PL efficiency.
