If you do histological analysis of fish gonad it would be better if you do it for one year. By this, you can get size at first maturity. If you have data on length and weight measures of your fish, you can use FISAT to determine the growth parameters like the growth constant, maximum attainable length of the fish, mortality parameters and exploitation level.
v know all the parameters like growth constant, maximum length, mortality etc., h do determine i could not understand. please explain. Can you give a protocol for this
these are called growth parameters which have been used by all fishery managers to determine the status of a certain stock. these can be derived using FISAT software. all you need is to have a data on length frequency (standard length measurement of the fish) but on a monthly basis. meaning you have to have a monthly measurements of the fish at least six months (for rapid assessment) while twelve months for a full bloom stock assessment. using the program requires a tutorial in inputting the data. but it be difficult to explain here how are these done. i hope you could find someone who knows how to use this software or if you could find procedures in the net.
