Public education is mostly an essential part of each drought management plan. is there any report of public education experiences in drought faced areas as a part of drought management plan? What are the tools and methods? How much important is it in mitigating drought impacts on society and environment?
Well, this may seem odd, but have you ever read "Cadillac Desert: The American West and Its Disappearing Water" by Marc Reisner (First ed., 1993)? It is not a "peer reviewed" book, but it is very well researched and looks at the western United States and somewhat presciently tells how we are where we are right now in dealing with the drought that has been on the borderline with a hydrological cataclysm due to insufficient data, and then the ignoring of "good" data for the sake of those with much to gain, painting a rosier picture of life in the west and alleged abundant water resources, subsequent poor policy decisions, etc. I also believe it has been recently revised to take into account the current status of water issues in the west. If nothing else, it is a very good read. It has been years since I read it, so the details are a bit foggy in this old mind, but I think you might get a lot out of it, as well as enjoy it's easy reading style...A good book to read during your downtime, should you have any...I hope this may be at least somewhat helpful. This issue is related to the region. If you search for water scarcity management in arid regions, you will have many publications. Most of our IWRM plans in the Arab region addressed drought management.

Thanks for your information. Actually my case study is Mashhad Valley in North-East of Iran. It has been classified as arid and semi-arid. I wish I could find some. If you know any published work about public education in this field please let me know.
