We want to design OLED/Organic Solar Cell devices. For that purpose, we need a free software for designing such devices. Can anyone help me in this regard?
Thanks for the questions. The model https://www.gpvdm.com was originally written as an organic solar cell model, and as such it can simulate:
*Dark/Light JV curves
*Dark/Light CELIV transients
*Dark/Light photo-CELIV transients
*Transient Photo Current (TPC)
*Transient Photo Voltage (TPV)
*Voltage transients of an arbitrary shape
*Full optical model taking into account reflection at interfaces and absorption.
However as you pointed out OLEDs and OPV devices are not that far removed from one another. I have therefore recently (December 2015) added new functionality for OLED simulation to opvdm, this includes the ability to simulate multiple heterojunctions and the ability to simulate light generation. You can find instructions on how to simulate OLEDs here:
https://www.gpvdm.com/oleds.html
and a youtube video walk through here:

(There is an audio track to the simulation that may help understanding)
OLEDs are a new feature in the model, so things like far field calculation are not yet included. If you want something particular added to the model just drop me a note and I will make the changes when I get time.
What aspect do you want to model? Electrical or optical? Do you want to optimize a specific property? For the optical part MIT's MEEP is a nice library http://ab-initio.mit.edu/wiki/index.php/Meep
You should check optiwave software (which one exactly depends on your particular need). I've used their optiFDTD for photonic crystals, it's quite user-friendly. 32-bit version was free and had rather good tutorials.
I am using OptiFDTD simulator to analyse the intensity and beam profile. However I am not sure about fabrication and analyzing OLED properties using OptiFDTD. Do you ever tested OptiFDTD for OLED simulation?
Hello, Md. Shamim Ahsan. Unfortunately I have not. I've used it for photonic crystals only. However, I've just checked OptiFDTD booklet. It says that solar cells and LED and OLED passive design are one of possible applications for this software. Check their website for tutorial.
I've written one for organic solar cells. You can download it for free at http://www.gpvdm.com It solves the drift diffusion equations, includes recombination/trapping via the Shockley-Read-Hall mechanism and uses the transfer matrix method to calculate the photon density in the device. I've made a few videos showing how to use it that you can find on the web page. If you run into any issues drop me a mail.
Here is a video of it simulating CELIV transients:

The SETFOS software can simulate OLED & OPV devices both the optical light emission and the electrical IV curve, CELIV, impedance etc. Including trapping, doping and sofurther.
Can you please recommend from the experience, which software can be used or which software you have used for simulation of OLEDs electrical and optical characteristics ?
Roderick C I Mackenzie how to add new material in your software. for ex ch3nh3pbi3. we have electrical parameters but very few optical parameters for led simulation.
Not for free, but Bumblebee by Simbeyond is a predictive KMC simulation software specialized in OLED and OPV simulations. It includes morphology, excitonics and charge transport, with the possibility to define all layers in an OE device.
Mohammad Kaifi I've now added over 2,000 optical parameters to the model, which are updated from an on-line database. In the latest version there are also now tools for importing your own optical spectra and/or defining them from equations. And regarding perovskite light emitting diodes, yes there is now a photo-lumenicense module. This video is an example of performing PL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgaJg6dErP4 . Hope this helps. Sorry for the slow reply I read e-mail more than research gate.
SETFOS Fluxim software is used for simulation of Thin film/ Organic Solar cell/Perovskite Solar cell/Tandem/DSCC/OLED/perovskite OLED/Organic Photodetector application to characterize electrical & optical properties.
