if you need a code for analysis of susceptibility to shallow landsliding, you might use SHALSTAB ( https://code.google.com/p/jgrasstools/wiki/Shalstab).
you can try GEO5 package. Slope Stability modul for analytical solution for several analysis method (bishop, spencer, janbu, sarma, itfm...) - circular or polygonal slip surface. And you can also verify this analysis using FEM modul (Phi, c reduction). It is possible to download free demo without analysis and time limitation here: http://www.finesoftware.eu/download/demo/
You can use the Geo5 software package with a free license for some days. That's useful and simple to work and learning with so many export and parameters for analysis.
Optum software in not completely free neither for academic use ... (e.g. limitatation of number of material) . so it is of course a commercial software.
UTEXAS is not freeware software. is a commercial software. Is a sophisticated and valid software even if it do not contains important shear strength criterion suitable for rock mass ans rock joints ( GSI and JRC), options needed for geotechnics of XXI century. Infinteslope is a freeware software but only for infinite slope verifications.
Plaxis software, Abaqus software, geo/slope software .. are commercial licence software.. or in other terms, you have to pay a lot of money for a regular full licence. Academic licence may be with discount but not free. No ones of them is a full freeware software.
Prorock software based on the finite- discrete element method. It is not free, but you can contact the developer Bulat Ilyasov and he will provide free access.
It is astonishing how little people read. You would expect more from users of a website like this. As a Spanish and Portuguese speaker, It is somehow easy to understand the Italian documentation. I did find the goetextile example quite useful. Thanks for your contribution Lorenzo Borselli .
PLAXIS, GEOSlope and Slope64. are as well commercial (not freeware) software.
I you have money to pay a legal commercial licence it its Ok. otherwise you can use it in NOT LEGAL form, without valid commercial licence.. You are free to choose. But exist other alternatives, of course: Full freeware software for slope stability.
a free TRIAL software is not a definitive Freeware legal software. A Trial version after a determinate period of time end its validity. In most cases , in trial version some functionality are inhibited..Commercial software houses provide some Trial Version in most of cases. But if you want a full version you have to pay for it.. Some users use a cracked version of full version but this is not legal valid way.
D-Stability is free to use slope stability software.
It provides several Limit Equilibrium Methods for soft soil slope engineering. Limit equilibrium methods include Bishop, Uplift-Van and Spencer. These methods are integrated with brute force-, particle swarm- and genetic algorithms for optimization. Staged construction is available for undrained yield stress administration. The safety factor can be analyzed in each construction stage. Several loads (line, uniform, earthquake) and reinforcements (geogrids, nails) are available. An integrated FORM routine alows the user to calculate the probability of failure of a slope.
A console is available to use (Python) scripts to automatically create input for variation studies or your own probabilistic routines.
You can download D-Stability for free through this link:
D-Stability is 100% freeware. There are no additional software packages available. On download, you get 100% of its capabilities including all documentation and tutorials from the website.
The advanced (paid) package you refer to includes support by a geotechnical engineer and an online environment to ease installation and access to the predecessor of D-Stability. It has nothing to do with the software itself.
You might be confused by the "License" that pops up upon startup. After the expiration date, the software will continue to operate the same way. After expiration, a new version of the software will be available. It's just a way for the user to update the software and not to keep working with an old version.
FLAC/Slope 8.10.467 (and greater) is now freeware and is available at no cost. Hard-lock, network, or web licenses are not required to operate this full feature, non-restricted version of the software.
