At the same time process may (or may not) be exactly reversible but with minimum possible losses and highest possible efficiency. Yes, there is.
- The first lossless technique is filtering. Means with a combination of L and C, change the
impedance at one side of the filter to a different impedance on the other side of the filter. The characteristics are also frequency-dependent. One very often used 'technique' here, is the transformer, another one is putting capacitance to remove the reactive component of the grid current.
- Another technique is the use of inverters. They are basically DC/AC converters, and are in widespread use these days, eg:
- Solar inverters.
- Inverters for DC/DC high-voltage transmission lines.
- Inverters for all kind of motors (air conditioning, washing machines, you name it.)
- Inverters for power supplies using high frequency transformers.
- The magnetron tube in a microwave oven.
Of course, these techniques are not lossless. (Nothing is.), but their efficiency is quite high.
- Then, of course, I did not mention the very simple rectifiers, which are also in widespread usage.

What do you mean with reversible processes.
There is the A/D and D/A converter that preserve the waveform. You can process the digital signal to produce any other waveform or frequency and convert it again into the analog domain.

Thank you for your concern, I am working on a project in which we have input signal A (it can be voltage, current or frequency) then apply some technique to distort/alter it to have signal B then process the B signal so that any stranger will have no idea of what it is and how to use it and at last exactly reverse the process with minimal losses to get signal A back. Also, we want to have some smart device so it can't be a transformer.
A/D and D/A conversions have built-in efficiency issues and associated transients. It would be great if someone could help in this regard.

You mention voltage, current, and frequency. Is the energy of the input what is important, or is the information represented by the waveform the important part? If it is the energy, I can't imagine what you would be trying to do. If it is the information, then crypto-theory should apply. Using existing crypto (proven security) is good and using security by obscurity is bad.
