As long as the moisture content of essential oil (water activity) as low as possible (especially if the essential oil produced from steam distillation) and in unopened container its stability should be fine.
Dear, essential oils are volatile by nature and are very sensitive to direct sunlight. For having quality essential oils in longer periods, it is good to place them in umber-glass and specially designed containers under dark condition (with out direct contact of sun light). If you pot in such conditions, your essential oil will be safe. Otherwise, if you put your oils on transparent materials under conditions exposed to sun, your essential oil quality will deteriorate in its quality. So, please take care not to expose your essential oils to direct sun light not to affect the quality of your essential oil. Bye for now wishing a very nice working and family times.
If you have kept it stored in an amber colored bottle away from direct sunlight in a cool and dry place, it would be perfectly fine to use it after 6 months also.
