Yes thr can be dfrnc..u hv 2 check for defraction of incident light in water which will be based on salts present in water. Polarimetry may be used here.Use florimeter to check if ur compound is florescent. ask a physics or chem person for exact protocol...i m a biologist

I am a chemistry person but never used PL before. It is my first time used PL in powder form. The result seems similar with PL for liquid form.

Set up an apparatus where the beam of light goes right through the liquid you are dispersing the compound in. Keep a lux meter in front of the beam of light that is transmitting at the other end. Check the intensity of light if it is decreasing. Keep in mind to check for change in intensity of light without your compound as blank.
