Is there any contradictory process to oxygen assited photodetection mechanism?

I am working on doped TMDC materials for their application in photodetection. For one of my sample, the photo current increases in vacuum compare to the that of in open environment, and the photo response becomes slower too. so which mechnism is working here? is there any mechnism which is opposite to the oxygen assisted mechanism?
