The literature on the effect of taping in the improvement of proprioception is not solid. Studies have shown improvement but also showed big variance in outcome. However adding a .ppt this might be of help. But of course taping can be used as an adjunct to the treatment. Adding two files for more information regarding the taping techniques and evidence.
In practice, it has been seen that kinesio-taping help to improve proprioception to a good extent. Some researches and a guide i am sharing with you. Of course, the taping technique differs with the structures involved.
dear Jim, I should have said, 'I think there are'. As promised my list of the 'best tapes' to enhance proprioception (with different applications) for various knee problems. Look forward to your comments.
I recently submitted a paper on taping in relation to back pain. Proprioception was one of the mode wherein Kinesio taping was postulated to exert its effect. However, taping was found to be effective on the first two weeks of its application. The study did not explain if this short-lived potency was related at all to proprioception.
A lot of the research is dependent upon the outcome measure used for determining proprioception. Mixture of results regarding effectiveness of taping when using Joint Position Sense as a measure as opposed to Functional Balance testing such as the SEBT or YBT.
