Over the past seven years I’ve uploaded 183 research items to ResearchGate, building up an RI of 140.8. As of 2/25/25, my entire profile has been wiped — publications, metrics, everything.
I’ve already contacted RG support, but I’d like to know:
- Has this happened to anyone else recently?
- Were you able to get your profile restored?
- Any advice on backups or alternate repositories you’d recommend (Zenodo, OSF, etc.)?
I appreciate any guidance — and I hope this question helps others avoid the same problem.

Matthias, I’m very real — Canadian passport, 56 years of age, spent years teaching abroad. BCIT doesn’t list part-time students publicly. Scott Beaver is an internal lab name for a private collaboration, not a BCIT department. My recent uploads are just me digitizing years of work, which is why they all appear in 2025. And no, I’m not an AI hallucination — though I do work with AIs, which might explain the style.
