no. But there are some microorganisms which can help plant to take up water and cope with water stress (see, e.g., Ruiz-Lozano, Mycorrhiza (2003) 13:309–317). The most important are surely the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, whose activity affect the soil-plant water relation. Secondly, some plant growth promoting rhizobacteria could be important in water uptake.

To expound a little on Sergio's answer, some of the PGPR or plant-associated fungi can also promote root growth, particularly small root hairs. This effectively increases surface area available to take up water and nutrients, helping the host get more out of the environment.
