There are many online forums for exchanging info. and asking for help, on a wide range of topics from math to programming and such. However these relationships/collaborations are usually informal, and you mightn't even know real names/affiliations. Is their a president for acknowledging help from informal online sources?

In your acknowledgements section, give a list of the real (or virtual) names of the consortium members who helped you. They are not co-authors.
In our current work we are particularly referencing all contributions that we have quoted or paraphrased using their initials and date of contribution (but not time) in the text, and an expansion of their names at the end in a table that is sorted according to initials.
