I have a set of consumption amounts of 6 categories of inputs for a large sample of people.
For example, individual 01 takes 1g, 2g, 3g, 4g, 5g, and 6g of input A, B, C, D, E, and F, respectively.
I want to produce one number that expresses the level of balance of intake from the six categories.
So far, I have used a formula that sums the distance between each consequent intake in absolute terms (so |(1-2)+(2-3)+(3-4)+(4-5)+(5-6)|). Is this correct? If not, is there a way to achieve the same objective and get a number that expresses the proportional balance of the set of values?

Ahmed Alayidi Thank you Ahmed for providing an example. One simple solution about what you need is to calculate the standard deviation (SD) of % in your example. If SD is zero, it means that there is no variability between consuming different intakes. If the SD is more, it means more variabity or in another word less balance. For instance, in your file, Farm1 has the best balance compared to the others and Farm4 has the worst balance. Attached, please find the file.
