I'm working with boars, specifically with animal behavior during training to collect semen.We analyze testosterone levels (blood) of these animals in order to relate the hormone levels and libido of males.
I wonder if there is a minimum level of testosterone for the manifestation of libido in boars.

You may wish to measure estradiol-17B (E2) as well as testosterone. Several studies show that E2 may be involved in libido in boars, so the ratio may be important. Also, libido may be a 'learned' response, so the hormone concentrations during sexual development may be important for priming the learned response.
hi WE FOUND THAT IN ROOSTER AND BULL THAT THE RATIO OF e2 AND T is so important, in the other hand, it determined that libido expressions even with basal level of T, especially in bulls.

Long time ago we trained boars for semen collection, castrated them and continued to collect them until they had no libido. Boars that had been collected a long time before castration continued to ejaculate (without any semen being emitted) as long as we attempted to collect. Obviously the testosterone was about zero at that time. Result should be available in Einarsson, S., 1971, Thesis, Royal Veterinary College of Sweden, Stockholm
