my thesis is about face recognition and i am trying to get more insight about different approach and methods, and finally existing algorithms and libraries.

although there enough of resource, but it is difficult to sum up with unique concept. for example some paper claim that we can classify all methods in two approaches (appearance base and model base) and some divide it in three (holistic base, feature base and hybrid).

it seems that there is two parallel school of though.

can you help me with some paper that reviewed these methods and classify it. for better intuition preferably if there is a diagram, would be useful.
