Is there a colorimetric method to determine the melanine levels ?

I'm trying to quantify the protein levels of melanoma cells using a spectrophotometric method to determine the viability of the cells before and after treatments. Is there a simple colorimetric method to determine the differences in the levels of melanine in the cell lines?
