Sure, you can use others free radical initiators. For instance, we have successfully used 2,2 -azobis-2- methylbutyronitrile. However you will have to take into account that the temperature for producing free radicals is slightly different depending upon the initiator.
2-2'-azobis(2,4-dimethyl)valeronitrile or 2,2-dimethoxy-2-phenyl-acetophenone are other alternatives for initiators used in MIP production protocols for bulk or emulsion approaches.
I have seen MIP protocols that included these initiators experimentally, though I have only studied them computationally, so I would suggest looking at published experimental details from different imprinting protocols and checking what is best suited for your needs.
Dear all, you have to choose the initiator that has close half-life time to that of AIBN at the same temperature. I think benzoyl peroxide may be the best condidates. My Regards
