As conventional Single mode fiber guides the Gaussian beam or fundamental mode, But is there any special type of single mode fiber/ higher order fiber to guide a Bessel beam to a finite propagation length so that only one higher order mode which is Bessel beam can propagate to some propagation distance without any noise or distortion?
Hi, from my knowledge a Bessel beam theoretically needs a unlimited space lateral to propagation direction to maintain its unique properties. So a fiber could be difficult. But maybe ther is some practical experience available frome others.
When people say "single-mode fiber," they mean a single Gaussian mode, specifically TEM00. In Gaussian mode decomposition, a Bessel beam is multi-mode, and therefore won't couple into an SMF. (Well, it would, but the fiber would act as a mode filter.)
Regular mutli-mode fibers would probably mess up the beams, since different Gaussian modes composing the Bessel beam would have different propagation velocities.
As Ralph has mentioned - Bessel beams have pretty large spatial extent.
There are, apparently, hollow-core fibers that can, at least, generate a Bessel beam.
Hi, there is a paper in Optica (Gris-Sanchez, Optica, Vol. 3, doi: 10.1364/OPTICA.3.000270) that discusses the guidance of an Airy pattern as one of the higher order modes of an all-solid optical fibre with a specific refractive index profile.
