STUDENTS’, TEACHERS’ AND SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS’ COMMENTS TOWARD NECESSITY AND EFFECTS OF A WALL CLOCK FOR CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT IN MIDDLE SCHOOL CLASSROOMS ABSTRACT
This survey was done to examine students’, teachers’ and school administrators’ opinions for necessity and effects of a wall clock for classroom management in middle school classrooms. The survey was carried out in 6 schools located in Diyarbakır City Centre with 73 students, 57 teachers and 18 administrators in 2014-2015 education years. Qualitative research methods were used in the survey. The interviews were made with students, teachers and administrators and then the data was collected with a semi-structured question prepared by the researcher. Descriptive analysis was benefited in data analysis. Categories were created by comparing similarities and differences between sample students’, teachers’ and administrators’ expressions by the researcher. According to findings obtained from the survey; 51(a great majority of students who attended the survey) out of 73 students said that a wall clock is necessary, 27 out of 57 teachers who attended the survey said that a wall clock is necessary and just 8 out of 18 school administrators said that a wall clock is necessary. With the results of this survey, the importance of clock factor which affects classroom management in classroom environment was presented to teachers, students and administrators in addition to the aim of contributing to this area in academic field. Moreover, it is thought that the results of this survey will be a guide to deal with using time in classroom management.
