I wish to fortify some organic manures with sulphur (S) for a field experiment using a test crop-an oil seed. I am trying to consider use of either magnessium tetra oxo sulphate (vi) {MgSO4} or ground sulphur powder as the S source. I need comments particularly on the comparable efficacy of S powder to MgSO4 in terms of rate of S release

Using sulphates will have a much more inmediate effect, since sulfur has to oxydize to be absorbed, but this also means they don't last long and they leach into the ground. I would use sulfur but keeping an eye on the pH (Maybe using magnesium or calcium oxides or hydroxides to balance it out.)
