In northern Sri Lanka, the Jaffna peninsula is made up of 26% salt water lagoon. Now proposals are pipelining to convert these lagoons in to sweet water lagoons. But fishing community and environmentalist are opposing this project.

• What are the known pollutants identified in underground water in Jaffna Peninsula
• Need a thorough research and investigation about the impacts (pros and cons) and whether there are more positive than negative
