Though it seems to be a very exciting concept, can it deliver what it promises? The solar panels are just there on the road, without any tracking ability, due to which power is automatically lost due to misalignment. Is it practical to put so many solar panels in such harsh conditions where millions of vehicles pass? Putting it to test in a lab is one thing and the real environment where heavy vehicles frequently pass is another. Can these roadways be structurally strong enough? Wouldn't it be better if they use these resources somewhere else like on rooftops or over rivers or canals?
