Virus-neutralization (VNT) and complement fixation are useful serologic tests. VNT only detects antibody that can block virus replication. This is important because related groups of viruses may share common antigens. Furthermore, you can use VNT to identify an unknown virus using known reference antisera/monoclonal antibody. Molecular methods are fast and reliable for identificatian viral agents.

yes , VNT is sensetive and specific test but it time consuming and need well prepared lab .
