There is interest in an Improved battery that is better and safer than Lithium Ion. I have seen a number of papers dealing with a Magnesium Battery R&D but it is not clear as to the level of progress. My question is are there any commercial products, i.e. a Magnesium Battery System being sold commercially at this time any where in the world.

The closest commercially available product I've been able to find is made by Aquion. http://aquionenergy.com/technology/deep-cycle-battery/. While it may be a bit different in design, it does use magnesium and saltwater.
