With the introduction of subcutaneous Insulin to our patients whom are diabetic, we have seen abnormal and at times difficult blood glucose levels to control with IV Actrapid. Do other intensive care units use sub-cut insulin with their patients, and have they experienced difficulties?

I look at absorption of low molecular weight heparin as a model, and its absorption is markedly affected by both edema or concurrent vasopressors.
