We would like to used the shortened version (6 items) of the Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory developed by Marteau and Bekker (1992) for an upcoming study (Spielberger et al., 1983). Is this form free?

They are normally freely accessible. The questionnaires are designed to be used as widely as possible. Its authors have worked for just that. If not, you may have trouble correcting it. I recommend that you look for another one that is open access. There are many and very good ones.
