Hello! I am interested in finding out if Inquiry-based learning has an effect in scientific creativity of students. it will be a great help in my research if you can give me a sample test. Rest assured that you will be acknowledged in my paper.

Ronnel Joseph Tracena Competente When I work with development workshops were creativity is an important factor I have emphasis on some key elements to faclitate the process. When we have agreed on the topic we are going to explore or develop, I focus on the following (roughly):
I ask the participants to tell me what they think/feel is the situation for this problem/topic How is it done now (if at all)? What do they thing about it? What do they feel about is? What works kn relation to the topic/problem as it is now? What does not work?
The second fase is about the participants needs, wishes, passions, interests and dreams in relation to the topic/problem at hand. I ask: If there were no limits, what would you wish for in relation to this topic? Creativity often needs a push and this is the right time to ask the participants if they would like to hear examples of how other creative people handle similar/other challenges. Give the group time to search for their own creativity before you interupt them with these examples.
The third fase is to ask the participants to look for practical ways of getting from the situation as it is now and towards the situation we wish for. I ask for examples and commitment. What can you do to get there? What are you willing to do to get there?
After a workshop day I ask the participants to assess the process they have been a part of. Every day they have to answer these three questions in writing: Write down three things you have learned today. Write down two things you found hard to understand. Write down one thing you would like to explore/develop further.
This is just a very short introduction. I work mostly with this in Norwegian. I can recommend the books written by Whitehead and McNiff, Müllert and Jungk, the book «The Planning of Change» by Bennis, Benne and Chin.
Sami Kahn Thank you! These papers are great addition in my research.
Kjartan Skogly Kversøy Your inputs are a great help for me to understand creativity. Can you send me some papers regarding the thought process you are practicing in your workshops?
Thomas Howard Morris Thank you! Your input is a great help!
Ronnel Joseph Tracena Competente I have written three books about this topic in Norwegian, but unfortunately I have not written anything in English except this very short presentation paper form a conference. I am happy to answer questions. The topic is large so specific questions is a big help. If you look at my list of research you will find this very short paper from 2007 "An action research project in cooperation with the teachers of three schools offering vocational education at high school level". It is no problem to gather data from creative processes, but they might not be of the quantitative sort you are wishing for. I have gotten the best data through daily phenomenological questions in writing from the participants (3 or 5 questions) - this was the way I did in in relations to my Ph.D.
At this moment, my research is building and validation a test to measure critical thinking, scientific thinking, and creative thinking. The aim is to carry out an internal and external validation (with students from 12 to 14 years of Brazilian schools). Can we think of validating and administering the instrument with students from your country, if it is possible and of your interest?
The research is in its initial phase, that is, organization of themes, concepts and skills to elaborate the questions for the pilot test. The instrument is built based on parametric and non-parametric tests.
I can't recommend anything specific - but you might find of interest the work of my late mentor, Dr. Frank X. Barron who wrote extensively about the Psychology (including the Psychological Assessment) of Creativity. Good luck with this project!
