With increasing reach of social media with improved internet infrastructure and expanding mobile services , it's impact cannot be underestimated ; but realistic assessment may be essential.
Social media is certainly an important media for marketing, where the product information and value proposition can be provided. But the question is that it is only for the people who have accessibility to net. While developed countries have very high degree of net connectivity, the developing and under developed countries do not have similar net connectivity. Hence can we make a generalized statement regarding the efficacy of social media as a prudent marketing/ business strategy? I request for the valuable opinions of my learned friends of research gate.
A good social media strategy begins with clearly defining your company’s overall marketing objectives. Now a days Social Media has changed the way we brand, market, and share the message about our products and services. But having a social media presence alone is not a strategy. Online social networking sites are powerful tools that, when used properly, can go a long way in helping to optimize your overall marketing strategy.
Advertising in social media is not always prudent for marketing. But, it is important media for marketing, where the product information and value proposition can be provided.
Social media is a valuable tool to meet marketing objectives. However, to my knowledge social media should not be reduced to the domain of marketing. There are valuable goals in other domains as well such as service and reputation. In the end a strategic approach matters. www.socialpower.nl
