I want to know whether Rutile to Anatase transition is possible under certain environment.
If we look at that the Gibbs energy vs Pressure plot,
negative pressures would be required for Anatase to be more stable than Rutile. The transformation to Anatase thus is irreversible.
I am also curious of the concept of negative pressure.
Is there a way we can create an environment wherein negative pressure can be put into effect ?
Yes, The transformation of anatase to rutile depends on the particle size and preparation method also. Also I think the supporting materials also can play some role in the transformation bcz of local heating....but still converting rutile to anatase will be tricy and you have to try this using various particle size nanocrystalline TiO2 and if you succeed in converting rutile TiO2 completely to anatase will be of great importance ...all the best..
Hello, we can prepared anatase than transfer to rutile by calcinating it at more 800 degrees.
But, I don't read about the verse process.

It is widely accepted that anatase-to-rutile transformation is irreversible; thus, rutile cannot be transformed to anatase.
As you know, pressure is force divided by area. Both of force and area are positive; thus pressure is always positive. However, the term "negative" pressure is used metaphorically to:
1- indicate the presence of attractive forces in some systems.
2- mention that the value of pressure is measured relatively.
