- before to ask such question is necessary firstly to define/to understand – what is “Time”?
Till there is no answer on this question any other questions/answers relating to any trait of the notion/phenomenon “Time” are senseless and, if such questions, and, a fortiori - answers, appear, then that is nothing more then some speculations.
In the reality the notion/phenomenon “Time” (and rather similar notion/phenomenon “Space”) are Meta-mainstream-philosophical and Meta-mainstream-physical notions/phenomena, and so they can be properly defined/rationally analyzed only in the “The Information as Absolute” conception https://www.researchgate.net/publication/260930711_the_Information_as_Absolute ;
where it is rigorously proven that all/everything what exists in our Universe and outside are some informational patterns that are elements of the absolutely fundamental and absolutely infinite “Information” Set; when the notion/phenomenon “Time” (and “Space”) are utmost fundamental [grammar] Rules/Possibilities that are members of a set of fundamental Rules/Possibilities, which are necessary for an information[al pattern] could exist at all.
The notion “Time” [and analogously its analogue “Space”] as the Possibility establishes that

that changes of some objects/systems of objects are possible, what is realized in the Set as the “time dimension[s]”; and so some changes of some object/system of objects proceed in some the object’s/system’s “time/temporal dimension”.
As the Rule Time establishes that between different states of a changing object always must be non-zero “time interval[s]”.
Thus, for example, there is no some independent “time flow” as that Newton claimed, however if something changes then this process obligatorily is accompanied by some increasing time interval.
Returning to the thread’s question:
As the possibilities Time and Space for the concrete system/sub-Set “Matter” form concrete [5]4D Euclidian spacetime - [5]4D Euclidian “empty container”, that includes two temporal and 3 spatial dimensions. As the rules they by no means establish – what intervals must be when something changes, the unique requirement is that any interval can be infinitesimal, but must not be equal to zero. Space as the Rule acts analogously, thus principally both, Time and Space “are continuous sense”.
But when the system Matter uses Time and Space to exist and to evolve, when every material object and Matter as a whole uninterruptedly change their states, these changes – and accompanied the changes, which can be changes of internal states of the objects and/or changes of objects’ spatial positions, temporal [and spatial intervals as well] intervals are determined by another, concrete for the system Matter rules, laws, etc. Including, for example, the fact that Matter’s spacetime is [5]4D Euclidian manifold is determined by that in depth just material objects have 4 main universal independent degrees of freedom for changes.
However, seems as rather probable that Matter’s spacetime is filled by dense lattice of fundamental [logical] elements [“computer “Matter’s” chips”] and so any change of an material object is a 4D discrete change of the object’s position in the spacetime.

From the physical point of view, it's impossible to give a correct answer without a definition of time :)
The definition must be given before the talk about the properties. And it is a serious problem - now we don't have any good definition for the physical time. Just some speculations and phylosophical reasonings, not more.
From the physiological point of view, it is possible to define "a quantum" of time - the minimal period which can be distinguish. For example - frequency of frames in video - the movement looks as continious, but in reality it is discrete. This "quantum" is not a fundamental constant and, obviously, it depends on the biological species and conditions of the organism.

Both definitions of the Meta notion/phenomenon “Time”, i.e. the universal common definition, when one of utmost fundamental Rules/Possibilities "Time" acts on whole “Information” Set, and the concrete definition – how this Rule/Possibility acts on concrete sub-Set “Matter”, can be - and are - obtained in the “The Information as Absolute” conception and in the following from the conception informational model in physics – see SS post above and links in this post.
Including the Rules/Possibilities “Space” and “Time” as the possibilities form for Matter’s existence and evolving [5]4D Euclidian spacetime as a principally infinite “empty container”, which is absolute in sense that this spacetime cannot be impacted by any material object inside – there principally cannot be - and aren’t - some “space contraction”, “time dilation”, “spacetime curvature”, etc. what are claimed as real in the relativity theories.
The Matter’s spacetime dimensions include 3 spatial and 2 temporal dimensions; the last are “true time” [5-th dimension] and “coordinate time” [4-the dimension]. The true time is the fundamentally universal Rule/Possibility above and establishes that every change of any/every material object, i.e. – a change of the object’s internal state or changing of the object’s position in the 3D space is accompanied by some “true time” interval; the coordinate time is specific just for the concrete sub-Set “Matter” and establishes that every change of internal state only of any/every material object that has “rest mass” is accompanied by some “coordinate time” interval.
The changes of the intervals are motions of the material objects along 5-th and 4-th axes of the spacetime; thus, because of the energy conservation law all material objects uninterruptedly change, all the objects are always moving in the spacetime – with 4D different speeds that have absolute values be equal to the speed of light and, simultaneously, with the speed of light along 1D true time axis.

Secondly. Time is a quantity like matter and space. Time can be converted in to space just like matter in to energy.
It is possible to create a mathematical model of reality that can be formulated in a few lines.
The model starts with its foundation, which is taken to be an orthomodular lattice (the discoverers of this lattice called it “quantum logic”).
The set of closed subspaces of a separable Hilbert space forms a realization of this lattice.
The elements of an orthonormal base of this Hilbert space represent the atoms of the lattice.
Hilbert spaces can only cope with division rings. These are number systems of which every non-zero element owns a unique inverse. I choose the quaternions as the number system.
The rational quaternions can be used to enumerate the members of a selected orthonormal base. A special reference operator can be defined that uses the members of the selected orthonormal base as eigenvectors and the enumerators as the corresponding eigenvalues.
The next step involves the definition of a subspace that is spanned by the eigenvectors that belong to eigenvalues that share the same real part. We interpret this real part as progression and the imaginary part as spatial location.

Now let the progression value increase. Consequently, the created subspace scans as a vane over the Hilbert space and divides it in a historic part, a static status quo (the vane), and a future part.
All discrete objects in universe appear to be modules or modular systems. Elementary modules exist that are not configured from other modules.
In the model, the elementary modules are represented by one-dimensional subspaces of the vane subspace and a special operator provides them with a spatial location. That operator uses a stochastic process to generate the location.
Thus, the elementary module hops in a stochastic hopping path. After a while the landing locations of the hops have formed a (coherent) location swarm. The swarm owns a location density distribution. Both the hopping path and the location swarm represent the elementary module. The location density distribution corresponds to the squared modulus of the wave function of the elementary module.
The modules are interpreted as observers. The observers travel with the vane. With these ingredients, the model offers two different views. One is the creator’s view. The other view is the observer’s view.
The creator can view the model independent of the value of progression.
In the creator’s view the observers follow a zigzag life path that at some instants reflect against the vane, where observers can interpret the incident as a pair creation or as a pair annihilation.
Every infinite dimensional separable Hilbert space owns a unique non-separable companion Hilbert space that features operators that have continuums as eigenspaces. In that companion Hilbert space, progression floats rather than steps. In fact the model can be interpreted such that the vane presents an ongoing process that embeds the separable Hilbert space into its non-separable companion.
The model represents progression in a stepwise (discrete) fashion as well as in a continuous fashion. In the separable Hilbert space the submodel proceeds with model-wide steps.
