Dear Colleagues,
Quantum Defect is a concert of penetration of higher level electrons of an atom into the inner levels.
As all electrons , Except 1S , have more than one peaks , each electron , other than 1S, penetrates into the core area.
Even, S electrons ( other than 1S ) , penetrates into the core.
So, I think , Except Hydrogen and Helium atom , Every atom has quantum defect.

I have a different opinion.
There are several factors here:
- Are atomic models suitable for the internal structure of matter?
- Is quantum mechanics able to describe the internal evolution of the nucleus?
- Is there a boundary between the internal evolution's of matter?
The answer to the first two questions is negative and the answer to the third question is positive.
In fact, this defect is not just from quantum mechanics. It's like we're trying to unlock the door with a screwdriver. Needed to unlock the key. Quantum mechanics, at best, can only describe certain physical systems under certain conditions.

It has 3 electrons . Two in 1S state and the outermost electron is in 2S state.
Can I say that there is quantum defect for Lithium Atom ?

For this particular case (lithium atom), we can address the issue in several ways:
- One: Existence of magnetic element (1S Orbital)
- Two: Consider the spin of electrons
These two can change the actual energy level of the electrons compared to what is normally calculated.
In addition to the above, according to the "extra electron atom scenario", there is a possibility of the presence of more electrons (especially in the nucleus of the atom), which could confirm the observed quantum defect.
My general suggestion for this is to include the potentials in the equations for this system. By entering these potentials, there will definitely be shifts in the energy levels of the atomic electrons that can correct this defect.

Can you please discuss about the the atomic orbilal structures and the elliptic orbit of planets.
I think , there is no elliptic orbit structure in atoms.
The attractive force in case of atoms and the attractive force of Sun , both follow inverse square law.
There are some Discussion on classical Kepler orbit as a macroscopic limit of atomic orbits.
But, I am unable to relate these two.
If you please discuss about these , that will be helpful for my understanding.
