To date, the commercial forms of RUTF and BP100 are taken as the only alternatives to treat malnutrition in developing nations. But is there any country which develop locally developed(organic)alternative therapy for malnutrition. Like India who blocked to import of these products and trying to formulate their own locally made version.
No. Plumpy nut is peanut based and originally started idea from Africa but manufactured in Europe. This formula is expensive for developing countries. In Nepal super flour (flour of roasted wheat, corn and maize) when fortified has shown good result for therapy of malnutrition.
You can see in the community what they are eating and you can identify which food can be used to treat malnutrition and promote local production for sustainability.

There are alternatives - but the devil is in the detail. The correct balance of nutrients is important to achieve physiological recovery. The recipe is the same as F100 with added Fe. Without the same balance of Type 2 nutrients in particular there is weight gain but a large part of this is adipose tissue and such functions as renal concentrating ability, Delayed hypersensitivity immune response, thymic recovery, glucose tolerance and the sodium pump do not come back to normal. Most cereal/legume based diets have a series of antinutrients in them (lectins, saponins, haemaglutinins, anti-trypsin, anti-chymotrypsin, anti-amylase, phytic acid etc.) that unbalance the nutrients that are absorbed. Weight gain itself is a poor way to judge recovery of physiological function - and it the way nearly all people judge "good" recovery - see answers above!!! If you are going to make a recovery diet then attention to the balance of nutrients and the bioavailability of each one is critical.

most of this work has happened in clinical settings and very little in field settings. it seems likely that gains are very different when a food-based approach is taken in terms of rate of weight gains and changes in body compositions. in our experience, for example, weight gain is slow and steady. perhaps there is more time for homeostasis since diversity is encouraged through generally available foods. i believe valid international is engaged in some body composition studies in community settings that might throw some more light on these technical debates. its true we know very little at the biochemical level and so, unless constrained by urgency such as with sick malnourished or muac under 110 mm kind of scenarios, balanced augmented dietary approaches seem like a reasonable bet.
