Is a fact, that were philosophers (Saint-Simon, Comte, Stuart-Mill) and not scientist who encouraged the use of scientific method outside physical study objects. The consequences have been the "empowerment" of any discipline that adopts scientific methodology. However, nowadays, is considered almost a MUST that any science practitioner (including physicists) have to be considered a positivist. Could the positivism be a negative impact on physical science, and not an apparent agreement with it?

I would like to bring into discussion the opinion of experts in any of the related fields about this topic.
