Moreover, The photocatatlyic efficiency of another member of this family of oxide-ion conductors, namely BINIVOX, There was a clear evidence that the oxygen vacancies also play a role in enhancing the photocatalytic efficiency (paper attached). What is related and attracted in your question is that this phenomenon is strongly pronounced in ternary oxides with layered perovskite structures.
