Hello. I had a question about the synthesis of nitrides. Basically, the synthesis of these materials is carried out in furnaces under ammonia atmosphere. Has anyone synthesized nitrides in a furnace with nitrogen atmosphere? What should be done technically?
However, the bond between nitrogen is of the triple type and breaking this bond requires very high temperatures (more than 2000 Kelvin, which is not possible for me to work at this temperature), while the nitrogen in ammonia gas is more reactive. Is it practically possible to perform nitridation by adding a catalyst in furnace under nitrogen?
Thanks
