India has large ecological variation and diversity in term of religion, beliefs and culture.Malaria case reporting system is also not very stringent, leading to under reporting many times for one or other reasons. Isnt it right time to re-speculate the elimination strategy and focus more on these barriers before allocating full resources on elimination?
Capitalize on incorporating the cultural beliefs and religious practices in the strategy to campaign for the eradication of the causes of malaria in India. Yet, it has to be culture and religion specific. Appealing to attitudinal change via emphasizing on the beliefs and ideologies of a people have always proved beneficial and yielded significant results.
Is it feasible to eradicate it in India? Certainly Yes. Remember that impossibility is in only in the dictionary of 'fools'. Yet, for dedicated researchers like you and I, anything is possible to achieve. We are seekers of solutions to end the maladies of man. In such sensitization and education on health related issues, appealing to the morals of persons through their own accepted beliefs have always worked.

Follow the footsteps of Sri Lanka! Sri Lanka is now malaria-free. Use of bednets, early detection, and treatment, efficient management of environment and community education were the most important strategies used.

Malaria eradication in India not possible however it can be kept below threshold
I think you are correct Sir. Situation in countries like Sri Lanka and Bhutan is different. In India, considering the diverse ecology, changing vectors competence and parasite diversity and implementation at ground level, it appears extremely difficult to eradicate malaria from India at this point of time. Although mortality is declining each year but it would be interesting to see cases fall below a significant level at least near to elimination.
In India, I realize that it is now a disease of the poor. As the economy level of the down trodden will rise this disease will also see its downfall.
