Whether male or female, juvenile or adult the morphometric and meristic counts remain same or different as well as lateral line scale count? In Day's book there having the range of lateral line scale, if confusing species come into same range, what is the solution?

In classical taxonomy of fish, so far, morphometrics and meristics are concerened, the lateral line count is one of the character for identification.

Suppose, Similar looking fish : first one having 30 lateral scales ; second one having 31 lateral scales and in Day's book the range are given like 29-31, 30-32 respectively. Other fin formulae also overlapping. I am in trouble to solve this meristic counts and lateral counts with some cryptic ray- finned fishes.
