Outputs of exterminating the biosphere and society:
1. Leaders (policy makers and businessmen) earn (almost) unlimited power and richness. Certainly, they are not able to evaluate it and they do not merit the virtual advantages of this colossal error. They think: they have built the “best of all possible worlds”.
2. Small bosses, higher bureaucrats and everybody who think they have been chosen to be obedient servants of rulers and to help them in building the “best of all possible worlds”. They got a comfortable living and all the pseudo values of our age.
3. Simple men and women get some additional hamburgers, beers, a lot of unnecessary things like video movies, computer games and the media directed perception: they are living in the “best of all possible worlds”. They got even the insight they have rights and they are able to change the world.
4. Where are we simple scientists? And what are we doing?
I am sorry I forget to mention the billions of humiliated and robbed people all over the world.
Scientists need to say vehemently what is correct & what is wrong - come what may. They need to stick to this moral duty at any cost. Research is not every one's job, & only very few can take up this arduous task & having spent time,energy & money,the results of research for the use of the public good can't be allowed to go waste at any cost. Awareness of science & technology is still lacking in most of the developing world & this needs to be speed ed up at an accelerated pace. It's the responsibility of the learned to spread the fruits of research among the public, so that they can to an extent appreciate its fruits.Having done this,it then becomes a collective responsibility of both these categories of people to elect the learned people's representatives who then make the right policies & rule them. Unless this is done,the DON QUIXOTES will have an upper hand.

I must be lucky until now I have had no intention to destroy our remaining paradise. As I could follow the fate of my tiny scientific contribution they did not serve destruction.
I do not think an average scientist might ever have had a destructive idea or he/she willingly daydreamed on designing and implementing destruction of the biosphere.

What is problematic that we are devastating nature for our crazy life style and producing totally senseless goods and services.
Who has got responsibility? The history?
This is a rhetorical question, of course. Still, you have to keep in mind that most of the countries with major contributions to this destruction are democracies where people have elected their leaders/rulers. As we say, you get what you vote for! What can scientists do? Continue their research to try and find ways to limit the problem and, more importantly, get the results out to people, i.e., stop thinking that publishing in peer-reviewed journals is the end of the process.
