hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidant and it can oxidize thiourea more than necessity.can we use other oxidants with lower strength in comparison to hydrogen peroxide, such as ferric ion or oxygen, with same efficiency?
Yes you can use both O2 or Fe3+ as oxidizing agents in gold leaching. However, in industrial of point of view, H2O2 is better (in most of cases). Because O2 injection in reactor require special instrument (and in some cases it has low efficiency) and ferric is more expansive than hydrogen peroxide.
All above mentioned oxidants could be effective in the case of thiourea leaching. However, some operational and economical aspects should be noted. For instance, ferric ion is more trustworthy and available for industrial cases. Providing oxygen in large scales requires an oxygen plant. Therefore, a detailed study needs to be carried out so that a proper processing route works.
