for the same plant I find the concentrations of the flavonoids higher than the total phenolic contents ......I have fellowed the protocol of lamaison and carnat (1991). Can anyone suggests other protocol for that....
As far as I concern it not suppose to happen. Because the total phenolic content include the value of total flavonoid content,so the value of total phenolic content should be more. Flavonoid also under category of phenolic.
It is not supposed to. Because flavonoids are part of phenols. If it's happened flavonoid is higher, may be because of solvent system used for extraction.
Such kind of result (on my opinion) is not acceptable in a report. But practically in laboratory you observe this phenomenum when you use the "wrong" standard for flavonoids assay. From my personal experience, I realized that quercetin is not very sensitive in the assay you used. So, change your standard and perform this assay again using catechin.
