Is it possible to examine the differing epistemology in sustainability education for the purpose of improving existing education policy approaches?

I'm interested in the converging and sometimes contradictory philosophical approaches to education in my home country, specifically in the areas of sustainability. But I have rather vague ideas at the moment on how to approach this research interest through the examination of epistemology.
