There are no shortcuts when it comes to programming. If you base your code on someone else's work, you also get all their mistakes and errors included for free. Usually, their work is not designed to do the same thing that you want to do, so understanding what they have done before you try to adapt it to your own needs can be a very difficult and cumbersome task. Often, you spend weeks or months doing all this work, only to find there is a fundamental flaw that stops the program from behaving properly.

There is no substitute for your own knowledge. Take the time to learn properly, and at least you will be able to understand whether you have the competence to tackle the job you propose. If there is not time to acquire that knowledge, then you should purchase a finished solution suitable for your needs, or seek out an open source alternative, rather than trying to cobble something together based on other people's work. If you don't have the ncessary knowledge, nor have the time to learn it properly, don't get involved. It will only end in disaster.
