I am going to make the SDS- PAGE. Is it permissible to use ammonium peroxodisulfate as a substitute for ammonium sulfate in SDS-PAGE? It would be appreciated If sending me the helpful comment.
Ammonium sulfate is not used in SDS-PAGE. Instead, ammonium persulfate is used with TEMED (Tetramethylethylenediamine) as a catalyst for polymerization of acrylamide when preparing SDS-PAGE.
Alternate chemical names for ammonium persulfate includes ammonium peroxydisulfate or ammonium peroxodisulfate.
So, you can use ammonium peroxydisulfate or ammonium peroxodisulfate or ammonium persulfate in SDS-PAGE.
Hi there, from what I gathered I am pretty sure that APS(Ammonium Peroxodisulfate) helps out the gel polymerization in combination with TEMED. Ammonium Sulfate is not involved in the polymerization of acrylamide! If APS is unavailable, you may use an alternative initiator like potassium peroxodisulfate.
