The sensed signal needs to be processed for further observations and it may be required to send some where else. So, in this type of cases we need in built wireless communication systems.
It is not always required to have wireless communication for smart sensors. It depends on the application , kind of processing required and volume of data. The smart sensor output can be transferred using Bluetooth, wireline media, WLAN as well.
