We're dealing with the HV (High Voltage) gas discharge thus electrical grounding is crucial issue for devices personal safety. I've done many effort to make good grounding but still have devices malfunctioning during discharge sometimes.
I thought it is probably due to that the lab is on 2nd floor thus ground wire to earth is several tens of meter, seems too long. Thus I'm thinking about to put copper plate of large size on the lab floor and this is connected to earth via ground wire. And devices in our labs especially discharge system are to be connected to this plate. Although this plate is floated to earth during short time of dischage (several hundreds of ns) the plate itself may gives equipotential in our lab..
Do you think this is good idea?
